After last Saturday’s victory over “VEF Riga”, which was snatched due to the brilliant last five-minute segment, only something extraordinary may hinder “Prometey” to become the winner of the Latvian-Estonian league regular championship. The best club of Ukraine will play 7 more matches at the first stage of the tournament (despite the fact that they won 22 out of 23), but all matches against the main rivals are already left behind.
“Prometey” has to make two more steps in the nearest matches to reach one of the intermediate goals in the season. For the third time in the season, Ronen Ginzburg’s team will have a game load during two days in a row. On February 14 and 15, at their home arena at the Riga Olympic Centre Rimi, “red and white” will play against Estonian club “Keila KK” and “Tallinn Kalev/Audentes” respectively.
Both “Prometey” rivals are not only out of the play-off zone but also they have lost even theoretical chances to make it to the Top-8 teams of the league. Therefore, the only opponents’ motivation for the upcoming matches can be just to get success in the confrontation with undeniable leader of the league, which would significantly raise the authority of the winner.
As for our team, which was stronger than their rivals in the road matches (83:74 against “Tallinn Kalev/Audentes” and 117:69 against ”Keila KK”), it’s very important to them not to lose their incredible ardour and, if possible, increase it in terms of game before the decisive segment of the seson.
