The current champion of the women's Super League "Prometey" started in the new championship with paired matches with Kyiv's "Budivelnyk-NUFVSU", which has declared the highest goals since its creation. Our team achieved a pretty solid victory, based on the final score, but the opening match was not as easy for our team as it might seem.
The hosts managed not to let our team go far for at least 30 minutes out of 40. Yes, they completely leveled the starting handicap of Victoria Bolshakova's team in just two minutes (10:4 in its favor in the 5th minute). "Prometey" managed an even more solid jerk in the starting ten minutes (9:0), but before the first break the team was separated by only one three-point shot. Moreover, in the 12th minute Anna Rulyova with a shot from behind the arc made the gap of her team minimal (24:25), but after that "Prometey" once again managed to run ahead in the match - "+10" in the middle of the quarter after a spectacular combination of Dubrovin - Holmes, and "+13" after the siren for a long break, when Veronika Liubinets realised another free throw by Olga Dubrovina.
Prometey's confident victory in the quarter was largely due to the supremacy in the fight under the backboards (33 rebounds against 19, with 11 recorded by Tatiana Yurkevich). "Budivelnyk-NUFVSU" after a long break managed to reduce the gap in this component to five points, but still "red and whites" won a quarter. Nikolina Babic and Olga Dubrovina distinguished themselves with confident individual actions, and Ulyana Datsko threw from the perimeter without a mistake.
Only at the end of the final quarter the number 10 of our team missed for the first time because of the arc, but before that 7 (!) attempts in a row were successful. It was the last 10 minutes that formalised the final dominance of "Prometey", which eventually resulted in a three dozen points advantage. At the same time, three players of our team (Tatiana Yurkevichus, Joyner Holmes and Olga Dubrovina) made a double-double.
Tomorrow at 14:00 the rivals will go to the GymMaxxArena sports complex again to play the second match of the tour.
