The home match against Kharkiv Sokoly became the third for Prometheus in the last eleven days against the team from the top 3 of our championship. The first two clearly showed that the opponents from the top of the standings are not chamgeless. They are trying to make the maximum competition for the undisputed leader of our championship.
All these can be attributed to the "Kharkiv Sokoly" after today's game. In postmatch comments, the captain of "Prometey" Denis Lukashov said that there is no sense to compare the Kharkiv team of the beginning of October, when they first met in the season with "Prometey" and today’s one.
The guests were not embarrassed at all by the starting 6:0 jerk of Ronen Ginzburg's team (Miro Bilan scored the first 4 team points). Already the first five minutes, after hitting from behind the arc by Alexander Zechevich, reduced the lag of "Sokoly" to a minimum (7:8), and in two minutes Kharkiv quickly moved from the defense to attack and Pavlo Burenko found Maxim Nikitin under the "Prometey" hoop - "Sokoly" took the lead for the first time in the match (15:13). After that, Valery Plekhanov's team established their lead four more times (!) in this quarter, but these ten minutes remained for "Prometey" - Viacheslav Petrov accurately hit the basket from the perimeter.
It was only the first long-range goal of the team in this match, while in the second quarter the "red and whites" scored five accurate shots from the perimeter (the first two were recorded by Chris Dowe). This accuracy of three-point shots greatly contributed to the fact that the hosts confidently won a quarter of N2.
After a long break, in the 23rd minute, after another successful shot from the perimeter (Denis Lukashov), the handicap of "Prometey" immediately rose to one and a half dozen points (59:44). However, the opponent managed not only to reduce the gap, but also "take" this a quarter after Maxim Nikitin played in the finish when the ball jumped out of the hoop after a throw by Troy Simons.
At the very beginning of the final ten minutes, the Sokoly managed to get closer to Prometey by two more points, but three minutes after Miro Bilan scored in a forceful manner, the handicap of the Red and Whites doubled (75:61), and by and large everything became clear in this match.
The "Prometey" center eventually made a double-double (19 points and 12 rebounds) and made a significant contribution to the fact that the precedence of "Prometey" on the backboards today was huge (45 team rebounds against 26). This component had a significant impact on the fact that "Prometey" won the last home game this year in the Superleague.
