Youth of "Prometey" under the leadership of the coach Oleksandr Pashchenko is getting ready for the new season. And we continue to introduce young newcomers of the team to you. This time the press service of BC "Prometey" spoke with Dmytro Holovchyk.

- Dmytro, you started in the Kyiv club "Teivaz", right? Tell me, who was your first coach? At what age did you start playing basketball? Why did you choose basketball?

-I came to basketball when I was 8. My first coaches were Tetyana Oleksandrivna and Ihor Petrovych Chernohrytsky. I took up basketball because I wanted to find something to do. And I liked it. I liked the whole process, gatherings with "Teivaz" were in Slovakia, Poland, there were many trips, we always went to the sea for our gatherings. We played in the All-Ukrainian Youth Basketball League. It was the best childhood. However, I started working out more seriously already in Yuzhny.

-At what age did you move to Yuzhny?

- At the age of 15.

- In Yuzhny, you trained and played having Oleksandr Pashchenko as your coach. In "Prometey" you will work with this coach again. Are you happy with this? What can you say about collaboration with Oleksandr Serhiyovich?

-At first, in Yuzhny, I was in Volodymyr Ponko's team, I played two seasons of AYBL with him. Then I played with Oleksandr Serhiyovych's team in the High League. I am very happy to work with him again. Oleksandr Serhiyovych is an excellent person, an excellent coach, the best Ukrainian youth coach, he brought up a lot of players who cut their teeth in "Khimik" under his coaching. In Yuzhny, everything was great, we learnt how to play fast basketball, we learnt how to be self-confident, I think this is the most important thing.
 

- You have already started training. You know some of the guys, you were in Yuzhny with several young players. Do you know many of your partners? What can you say about the youth of "Prometey"?

- Basically, I know all the young players. There are no problems in communication with them. In the future, we will get to know each other better, find everyone's strengths and use them in the game.

- In the previous two seasons, you played in BC "Ternopil", in the squad of which you came out on the court in Super League matches. What can you say about this experience?

-First of all, I want to say a huge thank you to “Ternopil” for the opportunity to play for such a team. I think you know about "downed pilots", we hyped up quite well. I have only positive emotions. I am grateful to “Ternopil”, to Dmytro Zabirchenko and the entire team of the club.

- The previous season for all Ukrainian teams ended up early due to a terrible reason. What was the most memorable thing from those February days? What thoughts did you have? What did you feel?

-First of all, there was confusion, fear for relatives who were in Kyiv, so there were many worries in the first days.

- You played seven matches for the U20 National team. Could you share your memories with us?

- It's always nice to represent your country. Actually, there were no super positive emotions, we stayed in Division A, I don't think this is a super positive result. We had an excellent squad, the team spirit was at the high level.

- What goals do you set for yourself in "Prometey"?

- These are only the highest places, only victories, to play, to develop. As the president of "Prometey" Volodymyr Dubynskyi said to replenish the composition of the national team of Ukraine.
